The archetypal Nike Air Force 1, especially its triple-white iteration is the ultimate canvas for any design endeavor on a shoe. For its maker and their collaborators, it’s the perfect playground for experimentation. Over the years, the silhouette has seen itself transform through a plethora of contemporary finishes. It’s been deconstructed, retrofitted, and now Nike is trying to do both all at once.

Underneath the amalgamated exterior is a white base layer. But the serenity of the color is immediately disrupted by the wild and unpredictable design choices applied on it. Varied materials and asymmetrical placements seem to be the MO for this project.

One side features an application of gold foil and weathered paint, the other clean. The same for the quarter. The disparity of material choices and placement can make this shoe an acquired taste when most palate’s would prefer a more uniform aesthetic.

Dancing between premium and derelict territory are golden studs sporadically scattered throughout the upper. At the same time, it’s regaled with golden aglets with a golden finish on the “AIR” embossed on the lateral heel. Cracked leather is also introduced to the mix by way of the profile Swooshes and the heel tab.

There’s no other information about the pair at the time of writing. Nike hasn’t disclosed a release date nor a price point. But when word gets to us, we’ll get them to you.
