[Update 13 Dec] Some new images have surfaced for the red “Mars For Her”. Although they’re not official ones, these leaks does offer us enough of an angular and closer look. Aside from a holistic view, the suede construction is more vivid, in addition to the “23” embroidery over it. Other details worth nothing is how the signature mesh window panel on the quarter complements the clear rubber outsole underfoot.

The official set of images should arrive imminently as the January 14, 2023 release date draws nearer.

LINE

Mars Blackmon, the Air Jordan aficionado from 1986’s She’s Gotta Have It, played by the legendary Spike Lee, can be credited albeit indirectly, for being a catalyst in launching sneaker culture into the orbit it revolves around in today. A standout in the film, the character was later borrowed and integrated into future Air Jordan campaigns, cementing his place in pop culture (and advertising) history.

Aptly, he’s become an inspiration for some of the line’s most iconic colorways, continuing to do so decades later, most recently exemplified by this titular shoe. This time released as a women’s exclusive, the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Mars For Her” comes dressed in picante, bright mandarin, fire red, muslin and black—likely a visual double-entendre inspired by the red planet.

A crimson suede makeup form the base of the upper with “23” embroidered onto the lateral heel. Other embellishments is believed to take their place on the insole and shoebox although it is hard to ascertain what they’ll be with only the leaked images to lead off of.

The iteration retains the hallmark features of its source such as the P-51 Mustang fighter jet-inspired graphic on the midsole; the TPU webbing on the quarter; the lace lock system; as well as the reflective 3M on the tongue.

The pair is scheduled to drop on 14th January next year on SNKRS. However, as with the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Lost & Found”, a pushback is also possible. If it does occur, expect you’d get an update from us.

Speaking of the aforementioned shoe, a release date has been confirmed for the Nike Air Jordan 1 High “Reverse Laney”.
