adidas Originals SST: Reconstructed for the Outdoors
From the outside looking in. A classic reimagined through the lens of the outdoors.
The adidas Superstar is the quintessential staple, an all-too-familiar silhouette in one’s sneaker rotation. Everyone, at least at some point in their lives, would’ve owned a pair. Countless iterations have been produced in the 50 years since its debut and to this day, continues.
This time, the titular shoe gets reconstructed through the lens of the great outdoors, taking its design cues from summer camp tools as seen on the rope detailing, mesh overlays and hooks.
The pair features a layered, multi-material build: “Core Black” splits the upper on the rear with “Clear Brown” forming the fore, as well as the rubber sole unit underfoot. Various embellishments give character to the classic with a reflective foldable shoelace closure obscuring the Three Stripes branding on the lateral.
Rope detailing appear on both sides of the mudguard while taking the form of the shoelaces. Mud speckles on the sole unit; pull tabs on the vamp, tongue, and the heel, add to the summer camp aesthetic too to round out the shoe.
The pair is currently available on adidas.jp with a price tag of ¥20,900 (≈US$140).
Elsewhere in Japan, 1LDK takes on Reebok’s Classic Leather. The pair is scheduled for release soon.
