[Update 17 Oct 2022] atmos and its Creative Director Hirofumi Kojima have released more pictures of this anticipated triple collaboration! As expected, varsity green is the name of the game for this release, with the adidas logo at the heel sporting that shade in embroidered style. Release details are still obscured in the shadows of these three greats, but we expect them to emerge soon. Check out the available images in the top slider!
XLARGE has been a mainstay in streetwear, with notable influence on the 90’s graphic tees scene. The brand’s versatility was a key factor that allowed it to carve a presence across different subcultures, permeating the Los Angeles hip-hop crowd, skateboarders, and even the club crowd. With XLARGE’s hefty presence in apparel, it is not surprising to see it linking up with footwear brands to establish its name in all facets of an individual’s rotation. A notable partner is the three-striped adidas, who has worked with the brand on a number of silhouettes.
It’s no secret that in the later half of 2022, adidas has been actively trying to bring back its chunky 90s’ skate model Adimatic back into the scene, especially in Japan. And what better way to do it than with the 90’s kings of streetwear? Teased by Shida, the Director of XLARGE Japan, the brand that associated itself with the Ape a year before NIGO is working on the adidas Adimatic with Japanese retailer atmos.
Under the wing of these two influential Japanese brands, the Adimatic takes on the never-outdated black as its canvas. The thick three stripes are washed with a lucky green shade while the well-cushioned sole takes on a milky off-white color. Stamping this pair as an atmos x XLARGE collaboration, a first between the two giants, is the tongue which features prominent co-branding.
It’s a simple pair, but that is to be expected from a nostalgic 90’s throwback, which popularised big name graphics and branding. Though an October release is hinted at, there’s no further information available. But we’re sure more details are on the way, especially since a sample has appeared on the T SPEC GEAR CHANNEL. We’ll be sure to update this page as soon as more information drops, so be sure to keep SNKRDUNK Magazine bookmarked.
