New Orleans skate shop Humidity has been serving the community since 1996, and teaming up with Vans, they introduce the Humidity x Vans Skate Half Cab Sentry GTX—an amalgam of some of the latter’s adjacent styles as well as a complete overhaul of its primary silhouette.

Designed to be “built for ANY situation,” the titular shoe comes clothed in full GORE-TEX membrane on the upper; decked in a stealthy black, protected from the rainstorms of its city of origin, ready for the harsh grind of the rails, or a clandestine operation in the middle of the night.

Where other Vans offerings tend to be more ostentatious, Humidity’s take revels in more austere territory, leaning towards a more tactical-styling: reflective laces and daisy chain heel webbing, along with a Wafflecup sole unit.

Branding elements, however, don’t hold back as evidenced on the scarlet colors of the Half Cab patch on the heel, and humidity’s logo right below—both in scarlet, in high contrast to the black it sits on. The same motif repeats itself on the tongue. Finally, GORE-TEX’s own gets the most eyes as it wraps around the perimeter of the heel.

The Humidity x Vans Skate Half Cab Sentry GTX will be available from 7th October on Humidity’s website before getting a wider release on Vans’. Information about the price hasn’t been revealed yet at the time of writing.
