Swooshing Stars on the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Just Do It”
In memory of Dan Wieden, the creative genius that coined the "Just do it" tagline.
The Nike Air Force 1 has gone through all the ebb and flows of the market’s ever-evolving palate. 40 years since its inception, it’s as relevant as it was to its first generation of fans in the ’80s. This year, the classic celebrates its ruby anniversary and Nike spares no expense in putting out a slew of new collaborations and colorways.
One being this new addition to their “Just Do It” series. This time with an element of playfulness, and experimentation. Keeping the fore mostly the same as its original incarnation, the rear breaks away from tradition with various plays on textures, color mixes, and materials.
Starting off with the scarlet embroidered Swooshes reminiscent of a shooting star; it breaks away from the die cut logo that’s a standard in most pairs. The color appears on the top eyelet and the upper part of the heel as well.
Juxtaposed is the muted brown textile that takes up real estate on the lateral and medial heel, complemented by the vibrant orange that traverse the sock liner. Proximate to it is the teal accent on the tongue that also divvy up on the “AIR” branding on the midsole. Rounding out the sillhouette is the crystal rubber outsole. Through it reveal soft black streaks that complement the spherical fixtures on the laces that carry the Nike branding.
Other fine detailing to notice is the light ‘abstract’ graphics on the toe box; the words “Leap High” on the tongue tag and a “2023” figure, indicating the pair may be subsumed to a much larger collection.
