The Nike Air Ship Is Celebrating a Throwback in “Team Orange” and “Pine Green”
Nike's still chillin' with the same 1984 silhouette.
[Update 24 Feb 2023] Mark your calendars—the Nike Air Ship “Pine Green” is finally landing on 1 March. This pair of heritage sneaker is one out of many green-hued sneakers that the Swoosh brand is looking to launch in 2023.
If you want to own a piece of basketball history and can’t wait any longer, the “Team Orange” has already dropped and is now available on the SNKRDUNK App.
Sportswear behemoth, Nike, has brought the Air Ship back in 2019 and 2020, and it appears that the pair will be getting more throwback hues — “Team Orange” and “Pine Green” — later this year. How coincidental that the two colorways resemble Halloween?
The design heritage of the original Air Jordan includes the Nike Air Ship in particular. Nike’s infamous advertising effort, known as the “Banned” commercial, served as the catalyst for the introduction of the Jordan brand. Michael Jordan, dressed in red and black practice gear, is the subject of the camera as he dribbles and holds the basketball in his hands.
The sneakers feature the same color scheme as the 2019 “New Beginnings” Pack, except instead of red, they employ “Team Orange” and “Pine Green” respectively. The ankle collar and Swoosh of the sneaker’s white leather base have the accent overlays, and the heel and tongue tag have Nike Air logos. The sneaker is finished off with a white midsole and an accented outsole.
The Nike Air Ship “Team Orange” and “Pine Green” have yet to receive an official release date and are predicted to be released separately. However, anticipate for the former to go on sale this holiday season for US$150 via Nike.com and the latter to hit the market in 2023 with a price tag of US$140.
