[Update 20 Mar 2023] Late last month saw the release of the “Wolf Grey” colorway and thank god the wait isn’t too long for its black counterpart. [Update 24 Feb 2023] A release date has surfaced for the “Wolf Grey” colorway of the Seneca-inspired pair. They’re scheduled to drop on 24 February and will retail for US$250. Find them then on Nike.com. Nevertheless, a raffle is also currently open for them at A Ma Maniére’s website. There’s no word yet about the black counterpart but when it does reach us, we’ll make sure it reaches you. Stay tuned!

[Update 22 Dec 2022] So it seems the purported release date was false, falling out of the 2022 window. There’s another 365 days ahead so expect the pair to arrive within, especially with these leaked images to ascertain its existence. Seems like the factory floor has been busy, and the pair looks ready to see the world.

[Update 28 Oct 2022] So it seems, the “Dream a World” colorway that surfaced earlier isn’t alone. Joining the pack will be this penumbra next to the austere black. The pair will come in a lighter shade of iridescent grey, featuring the same construction of suede, mesh, and patent leather surrounding the hallmark PU mould. There currently are no release dates announced yet but they’re expected to come within 2022.

Collaborative pairs have become ubiquitous, with inspiration coming from every possible source. We’ve seen tributes, sneakers inspired by celebrity and pop culture, a moment in history, by personal artefacts. The Foamposite One “Dream a World” however, may be the first inspired by neither a contemporary name nor the contemporary age. It’s the first to be inspired by ancient Roman philosopher Seneca, best known for being at the vanguard of Stoicism’s school of philosophy.

It’s a surprising amalgam for one of the quintessentially ’90s, maximalist basketball silhouettes. The pair’s signature foam shell presents itself in all-black with white scruff markings emblazoned over. The monochromatic colorway a seeming representation of the austere philosophies of Stoicism itself.

Save for the above-mentioned print, the components of the pair are achromatic as well from the sole unit below to the collar up top. Some of its other fineries include the suede textile on the eyestays, the mesh inner construction and the patent leather pull tabs.

Some of the titular philosopher’s quotes are adopted into the shoe: “Luck/Success Happens When Preparation Meets Opportunity,” along with “Insert Your Dreams Here” and “Dream A World”, seen on the insoles, wraparound paper, and on the shoebox.

The pair is scheduled for release within the coming months with a price tag of US$230.
