atmos x adidas Adimatic “OG Shoebox” is an Old School Tribute
90's skaters, this is for you!
It seems like atmos’ work on the adidas Adimatic is distinctively inspired by adidas’ shoebox colors. The two brands’ first collaborative effort spawned an “atmos Blue” colorway, which mimicked the recognisable blue of adidas’ branding. In a more blatant fashion, atmos and adidas’ newest partnership sees an adidas Adimatic “OG Shoebox” colorway.
If you’re scratching your head as to why you’re seeing a cardboard brown-yellow suede wrap the chunky 90’s skate silhouette, then here’s a little history tidbit for you. Back in ’96, the release of the cult favourite model was accompanied by a brown cardboard box with black stripes. The atmos x adidas Adimatic imitates this look down to the insoles, which features an OG shoebox wall. The white leather hangtag also resembles the paper tag found on the original shoes. Of course, the icing on top is that this collaborative project will come in the OG brown box.
In a saturated market of collaborations that try to disrupt silhouettes, it’s rarer to see partnerships that pay homage to its original roots. We’re sure this atmos x adidas Adimatic will have a special place in the shelves of 90’s sneakerheads.
An Asia-exclusive release, the atmos x adidas Adimatic “OG Shoebox” will be released on atmos’ webshop. It will retail for JPY13,200 (~US$130).
