The linear collection of Jordans will forever be part of the zeitgeist, no matter how many years removed they’ve been from their original run. Consider it almost shamanistic how they’ll always find a revival, get a new life. Another colorway, a prestigious collaboration, a retro release, the formula goes on, et cetera. While those methods have surely worked for decades, this time around, Jordan Brand adjusts its MO by digging deep into its archives—30 years’ worth.

There, they find the Air Jordan 8 “Paprika”. Images of the kid-sized sample pair first surfaced during the AJ8’s original run in 1993 and have made its rounds through the ether for three decades. It didn’t just cultivate hype, it was building its myth to levels of folklore, summoning the desires of the most erudite of collectors. Since they were a sample pair, there was no official release—until now, at least.

Come 23rd September, they can get their hands on it… for their kids. True to the sample’s image, this release will be made in youth sizing; as close to the pictured version, albeit with some minor tweaks. The signature strap unit of the AJ8 will be present in black nubuck, laid over the white leather base. The Jumpman won’t feature the Chenille finish that’s staple to the silhouette but will instead carry an embroidered one. Red trimmings rest on the sock liner as it does accentuating the midsole below.

Back in the day, kids sizing of a Jordan pair were called Sky Jordans, as opposed to the Air prefix. Presumably because the sizes were too small to fit any air cushioning unit. Lest they get sued for false marketing, they decided to rename the series.

The Air Sky Jordan 8 GS “Paprika” will hit the shelves in full youth-sizing with the Grade School version going for US$150, Preschool at US$90, and Toddler sizes at US$70.
