Vans Join Secretly Canadian To Fight Against Homelessness With Sk8-Hi Collab
Net proceeds will go towards SC's $250,000 fundraising goal for New Hope For Families.
Vans have had a plethora of collaborations this year alone, with some even for a good cause like the Off-The-Wall Pride Gallery Collection and last month’s “Love Thy Community” initiative with KITH. This time, they extend their noble efforts by helping music label Secretly Canadian in their fight against homelessness in their hometown of Bloomington, Indiana. The philanthropic initiative is a culmination of the latter’s 25th anniversary campaign.
Collaborating on the Vans Sk8-Hi, proceeds from the net sales will go directly to fund SC’s goal of raising US$250,000 for New Hope For Families—”a local Bloomington organization that focuses on housing-first solutions for our local families of all shapes and sizes experiencing homelessness.”
The Sk8-Hi is inspired by the lyrics of Jason Molina and designed by Secretly Group’s Mike Brennan. The model serves as the backdrop of a poetic sun and moon motif, a visual depiction of the opening verse of the artist’s “FarewellTransmission”, while the lyrics of the song’s climax is embedded onto the heel: “Every Light On This” and “Side Of Town”; elements beautified by a singular calm blue palette.
Whether you were spurred by the cause or simply by the aesthetic of the shoe, making a purchase would benefit the shelter and the people they serve. The pair will be available on the Secretly Store and Secretly Canadian’s Bandcamp from 2nd September for US$95.
Vans have always shared the spotlight with independent creatives and businesses. Recently, they link up again with surf brand Former for a sophomore collaboration. Swim over!
