[Update 26 May 2023] With almost half a year past its initial release, a restock of the Travis Scott x Nike Air Jordan 1 Low “Black Phantom” has now been announced via Japanese retailer Dropp. Sizes will be limited to Men’s 27.5cm to 29cm (US9.5 to 11) and a raffle draw is set to go live from 26 May 12pm to 2 June 11:59am JST. [Update 14 Dec 2022] We are one day away from the official release of the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low “Black Phantom”! Early campaign images of the sneaker, alongside those of an accompanying Cactus Jack x Jordan Brand apparel collection, are here. Taking cues from the colors of the Black Phantom, the series of images are shot on either black or red backgrounds. Some of the pics also depict models with bee wings, alluding to the embroidered bee motif on the heel, which is itself a nod to Travis’ daughter Stormi. The highly-anticipated sequel to the Reverse Mocha will drop in Men’s, Pre-school (PS) and Toddler (TD) sizing for US$150, US$60 and US$50 respectively.

The scheduled drop is exactly three months away. Who’s bought their tickets for the hype train?

[Update 15 Sep 2022] Following his appearance at the Nike JDI Day that fueled rumors of a future Cactus Jack x Air Jordan 7, Travis Scott and Nike have dropped the first official images of the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Black Phantom”, albeit in GS sizing.

Along with the images is confirmation that the hyped shoe will be released in Full Family Sizing. The shoes will also come with a blacked out box and black tissue paper. It is also worth noting that the “Cactus Jack” text that typically appears on the medial Swoosh on Travis’ Air Jordans is now printed in phantom black ink on the black upper.

[Update 29 Aug 2022] It’s been a great month for fans looking forward to the release of Travis Scott’s newest “Black/Phantom” colourway, and it’s about to get better—@sneakertigger has posted a new series of close-ups and in-hand looks at the phantom shoe! Check them out in the slider, or scroll to see a play-by-play timeline of the sneaker leaks.

[Update 23 Aug 2022] Trusted account @le.syndrome  has given sneak peeks to a new Cactus Jack x Jordan apparel line. Included is a black hoodie with co-branding stitched in red on the sleeve along with sweatpants with Cactus Jack embroidered to the back pocket.

The embroidery has a slight glint, suggesting that there are either mini beads or silvered threads used. It is speculated by @ovrundr.io that these will drop alongside the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Black Phantom”. Check out the slider gallery for more images!

[Update 22 Aug] Courtesy of @fkzsneakers, we now have an on-feet look at the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Black Phantom”. There’re no official images released yet by Nike but with each new leak, the release date draws nearer.

[Update 15 Aug] So far, there’ve been new photos surfacing every week, and it just keeps looking better with each one. Aside from segregated looks of the components, we now see that the coveted pair will also come with alternate laces of red and a patterned monochrome. Branding elements are more vivid with the one in the heel counter being a standout: The Jordan Wings on one pair, and a bee embroidery on the other, a tribute to Stormi from what we hear.

[Update 10 Aug] According to @ovrnundr.io, the pair is expected to be released in full Men’s sizing on Thursday, December 15th for US$150. Information is vague and sources are sparse at the moment. If it’s any consolation, the picture below is said to be a “confirmed look” at the sneaker.

LINE

If there’s anything Travis Scott has learned from being Ye’s protégé under G.O.O.D. Music, it’s transcendence. In the last 10 years, Travis Scott has gone from being a guest on the label’s Cruel Summer album to being a household name. Like his mentor, his name and repertoire has outgrown his original weapon of choice—his music. People may not know his records, but they sure know his shoes, with his Cactus Jack brand experiencing ubiquity beyond even Yeezus’ himself.

Recently, he was spotted wearing what is believed to be the titular shoe. No official images have surfaced except for a rumored December 15 release. The photo featured is a mockup but it should retain much of the original’s design elements, save for the all-black makeup. Until official photos appear, consider this “Black/Phantom” an ‘apparition.’

Elsewhere in the Travis-sphere, the Travis Scott x Fragment x Nike Air Jordan 1 Low OG is expected to get a restock on SNKRS Day. But knowing how fast they’d go, we might have a better chance catching real lightning in a bottle than we do fragment’s.
