Ramen — good for a quick fix, for splitting hangovers and a hearty meal with friends. Now, this versatile and popular food choice is showcasing that it’s good for shoes too in this Your ID x New Balance 327 collaboration.

Your ID is a sneaker boutique based in São Paulo, Brazil that has had prior friendly relations with New Balance. Previously coming together on the New Balance 574 for a Barista-themed shoe, the foodie sentiments of this partnership continues on in this ramen-themed Your ID x New Balance 327 “Lámen” (ramen in Portuguese).

It’s not hard to tell how the sneaker is inspired by the popular Asian dish. Dressed in a tan suede upper that mimics ramen broth, the sneaker’s mix of materials also coincides with the array of ingredients and garnishes found in the soup. Hairy forest green suede on the mudguard and the heel are a direct nod to the nori (or seaweed) floating at the top of the soup. Hits of pink, yellow and orange around the lace unit serves as the kamaboko (fish cake) and ajitsuke tamago (soft-boiled eggs).

Driving home the ramen-inspiration is the graphic of a bowl of ramen on the tongue and insoles. Kanji on the heel tab spells out “Delicious” while a cautionary statement on the inner heels read “Caution: Do Not Eat”.
