[Update 19 Aug] Coming in hot! The collection went live yesterday on the adidas CONFIRMED app and Round 2 stores. A wider release will come through on adidas.com on August 25. The ZX 8000 will be accompanied by an array of apparel that includes sliders, graphic t-shirts, jackets, shorts, bucket hats, and tote bags. World-famous sneaker designer and sneakerhead Sean Wotherspoon is back with another wacky design! This time, he’s teamed up with adidas and Hot Wheels to produce an all-new adidas Superturf Adventure colourway, complete with a whole host of bright colours, textures, patterns and references to the toy car brand.

The upper contains multiple layers, from a white breathable mesh at the base, to straps representing adidas’ Three Stripes in the middle, overlaid by smooth leather dotted with Wotherspoon’s signature in pink and purple. White and blue-striped laces run through bright yellow and red eyelets, but beneath the laces lies one of the most interesting features of the shoe: the tongue. This exceptionally unique tongue features a furry, teal-coloured surface that’s split by a zipper containing red adidas and Hot Wheels branding. When unzipped, it separates to expose its dark blue inner with Hot Wheel’s slogan, “IT’S NOT THE SAME – WITHOUT THE FLAME” written across the tongues of each shoe. Additional elements, like the removable velcro Hot Wheels tag on the heel, as well as the cream adiPrene+ sole unit wrap up the extremely busy design.

Altogether, this three-way Superturf Adventure collaboration is an absolute unit of a head-turner. It simultaneously covers every section of the colour wheel while including a multitude of textures, symbols and adaptable elements, all within the floor plan of a sneaker. On top of that, it comes in a unique tie-die box that combines the Hot Wheels logo and Wotherspoon’s signature into a yellow and red ‘flower’ placed in the centre. To summarise the sneaker in a nutshell, it’s like looking at all of Hot Wheels’ different car designs at once – in a shoe.

There currently isn’t any official release information regarding the Superturf Adventure “Hot Wheels”, but given that Sean Wotherspoon has recently posted photos and videos of him wearing the physical sneaker, we expect details to surface very soon. Stay tuned for more!
