[Update 06 Sep] The deconstructionist take on the Air Jordan 1 finally has a release date in Japan set for 7th September. There’s no word when the wider release will be, but it it won’t be long before they appear in the App.

Deconstructivism seems to be a design language a lot of brands have adopted for a few years now, changing a classic just enough to create something new, never-before-seen, and yet retain its familiarity. Nike’s been in the vanguard of this movement with their collaborations with sacai, Tom Sachs and most famously, Off-White and their frenzied over “The Ten” series.

By the same principle comes the “Inside Out” collection, derivative of prototypical constructions — an ode to the DIY aesthetic of exposed detailings and raw creative expression. It was previously applied to the Air Max 1 and Air Force 1, and now to the archetypal Air Jordan 1, a silhouette so versatile it was only a matter of time before it was assimilated into the pack.

This greyscale outfit is built on an off-white midsole, a much darker upper in contrast to the Sail colorway released earlier this year. But much like the aforementioned, it retains the decorative stitching of “23” on the die-cut Swoosh on the lateral side; the leather and suede textiles; and the exposed tongue.

In addition, a mid-cut version of the pair will also be released as it were for its predecessor. Official images have surfaced but with no release date confirmed. Stay optimistic, one should be made before autumn rolls around.

If these are your vibe, then you might find the Air Jordan 1 Mid “Split” 2colors as intriguing.
