These adidas x Gucci GG Platform Sandals are (Literally) Elevated Slides
Channel the 70's aesthetic with these adidas x Gucci GG Platform Sandals.
When the adidas x Gucci collaboration first launched in June, the spotlight was cast on the Gazelles as the stars of the collaboration. Other footwear options, such as the mules and slides, took a backseat to allow the sneakers to bask in their high fashion glory. However, as the heat turns up and more brands have started to release weather-appropriate slip-ons, we can’t help but look towards the adidas x Gucci GG Platform Sandals as the new summer staple.
Originally released in loud yellow, red and green colorways, the latest expansion to the streetwear fusion sees a new cobalt blue takeover on these GG monogram slides. These bold colors and rubber platforms are a direct call back to the vibrant 70s — a direction that governs this entire adidas x Gucci collaboration under creative director Alessandro Michele’s renowned retro touch.
adidas’ participation is prominently signalled via the Trefoil leather patch on the low platform’s velcro-adjusted strap. Cotton sponge forms the insole, giving a cushioned fit that makes walking on clouds a reality. As part of Gucci’s efforts towards sustainability, white Demetra trim — crafted from animal-free raw materials and bio-based sources — form the rubber details.
The adidas x Gucci GG Platform Sandals are available on the Gucci site and retails for US$620. The expanded collection also sees new apparel and accessories that are a seamless blend of retro elements, be it through colors or specific old school cuts, and modern sportswear.
