First Look: Air Jordan 1 Mid “Multi-Material”
They heard you find the Mids cold, so here's a design with plenty of materials that might give it some more "heat."
Jordan Brand continues to thrive with its retro silhouettes while continually expanding its linear series that started with the Air Jordan 1 in 1985 to the 37s in 2022 – that’s almost four decades of footwear innovation, influence, and impact. Then some time in the last 15 years, they’ve begun experimenting with amalgamating the best features of their most iconic silhouettes into a hybrid that’s been both delighting and divisive: the Dub Zero, Spiz’ike, and most recently, the TWO TREY.
By the same philosophy, we get the “Multi-Material” make-up of the AJ1, a variegation of some of the most common materials used on a modern footwear.
Every panel sports a different textile and color, save for a familiar white toe box and tongue. Outfitted with a burgundy tipping; alternating on the forefoot overlays, a green suede and polka-dotted embossment; a pale waffle weave quarter, a ribbed heel counter and sock lining; patent black eyestays; a tan suede collar; a white debossed Jordan Wings and the final touch to this cornucopia of a sneaker are the red textured Swooshes.
An official release date hasn’t been announced but looking at the aesthetic alone, it seems apt if it’s scheduled for Fall 2022. Until then, enjoy the summer while keeping your eyes peeled.
These shoes will definitely be an acquired taste for some but if you’re not the finicky type, check out the Air Jordan 36 “Luka”.
