Barely a month after CDG Play and Converse dropped their peekaboo All Star sneaker collection, the duo are back with another collaborative effort. For the first time in their years of partnership, PLAY Comme Des Garcons and Converse are turning to the iconic Converse One Star sneaker.

Introduced in 1974 as a basketball sneaker and later propelled into the cultural limelight when Kurt Cobain and Guy Mariano were spotted in them, the Converse One Star has kept its classic design unchanged since.

As with most CDG collabs, this CDG Play update sees the shoes come in two basic colorways, a black and a white pair. The Japanese fashion label injects a playful energy into the shoe, with the addition of Filip Pagowski’s red heart logo and the One Star’s iconic cut-out star appearing in a similar red hue.

As a whole, the PLAY Comme Des Garcons x Converse One Star sneaker stays true to the silhouette’s signature style (with the One Star’s contrast stitching and rubber toe cap) but features premium organic cotton canvas instead. The collaborative sneaker will launch in a week’s time.

In other sneaker-related news, a Salehe Bembury x Vans collab might be dropping soon!
