A nod to Luka Dončić: Air Jordan 36 “Luka”
Bold red with a tapestry of gold. This pair of sneakers is heavily inspired by the bullfighter costume!
Is there a more famous Slovenian than Luka Doncic at the moment? The young point/shooting guard who plays for the Dallas Mavericks was named Rookie of the Year for his debut season in 2018-2019. Ever since he has shattered record after record for his scoring and assisting.
With his astounding records, he was once referred to as “El Matador” which means a bullfighter in Spanish, by one of the Mavs backroom coaches, and the nickname has stuck around. To pay homage to the talented basketballer, Nike will be releasing a new colorway “Luka” on the high-top basketball model, Air Jordan 36.
The offering of the Air Jordan 36 “Luka” is heavily inspired by the El Matador moniker. The sneaker is dressed in striking and alluring red upper with gold detailing similar to the design on the traditional clothing that Spanish bullfighters wear in the bullring. More gold accents make appearance on the laces tips and the mid outsole.
Unlike the standard Air Jordan 36 releases with the Leno-weave upper, this pair of sneakers is constructed in canvas-like fabric with a suede toe guard. Rounding off the look is the “El Matador” text appearing on both heel tabs and inner tongue tags.
Currently, there’s no word of a release date, so sit tight as we await future updates. Stay tuned to SNKRDUNK Magazine for the latest update!
