Earlier in June, Vans paid homage to the original Sailor Moon series to celebrate the iconic anime’s 30th Anniversary. But with July rolling around, Vans adopts the “out with the old, in with the new” mantra and is now collaborating with Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, the reboot of the original Sailor Moon series.

This Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon x Vans collaboration gives the Old Skool Overt CC a magical overhaul. Right off the bat, fans will notice Usagi’s recognisable transformation brooch attached to the laces, albeit in black. This is likely to complement the all-black upper, which also features a gray outline of Sailor moon and her sidekick Luna on the lateral sides.

On the tongue are Sailor Moon motifs, such as the Moon Stick, and the Vans Off the Wall label in bright pink. A similar pink shade also acts as accents on the stitching and midsole. The heels, too, are part of the show: Kanji characters that spell out Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon are embroidered in pink threads. Not losing its own identity among the Sailor Moon Symbols, Vans’ checkerboard appears on the toe box and on Usagi’s ribbon brooch, though this time in a simple black and gray.

Tech-wise, the Vans Old Skool Overt CC utilises a pink rubber outsole plate to enhance grip and traction. The molded insole and foam collar provides utmost comfort per stride.

The Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon x Vans Old Skool Overt CC will be released on 22 July. Though the release date is impending, Vans is still keeping the retail price under wraps. Check back on the SNKRDUNK Magazine for more updates on this drop. In the meantime, keep scrolling for closer looks!
