For the third consecutive year, Tokyo-based label NEIGHBORHOOD and creative Takashi Kumagai’s WIND AND SEA are joining hands for another apparel collection. This time, the collaboration blends the quintessential elements of each brand to create a range of summer-ready accessories and clothes.

The motivation behind a tropical collection is appropriate given the origins of WIND AND SEA’s name, which was inspired by the Windansea beach in California. After facing racism at the beach, the Japanese designer vowed to name his brand after it as an act of rebellion against such acts. Such a subversive attitude resonates with the countercultural roots of NEIGHBORHOOD, and this shared element of both brands materialises into the collaboration’s leading product — a black Hawaiian shirt with tropical leave patterns and co-branding on each side.

To prep you for a full beach day, the collection also includes a line of graphic tees, shorts, slippers and bags. Included is also a co-branded Hydro Flask and even sunscreen, ensuring that you are hydrated and protected from harmful UV rays. No summer collection is complete without beach towels, which this NEIGHBORHOOD x WIND AND SEA collaboration has prepared in two colorways.
