A classic model with a classic colorway — that would be the line most Jordan lovers (us included!) would use to describe this Nike Air Jordan 1 Mid “University Blue”. The University Blue look is iconic as it is a tribute to the University of North Carolina that Michael Jordan attended from 1981 to 1984. It was also the signature color used when Nike began marketing the Jordan 1 lineups.
Now, it is making its way onto the the Air Jordan 1 Mids in a similar color blocking, albeit with some differences. As expected, white leather washes the upper while Carolina Blue dons the overlay panels and collar. The Swoosh, wings logo and outsole also carries the same light blue. Interestingly, the heel opts for a grey suede, giving the shoe a cooler look.
What elevates this Nike Air Jordan 1 Mid University Blue is the tongue that comes in a mesh-like material. The mesh’s criss-cross appearance imitates how a basketball net hoop looks. This inclusion, along with the University Blue colorway, adds another link to the basketball origins of the Air Jordan 1 model.
A release date is still up in the air for this model, but we expect it to drop soon in 2022 given the release of official images. Per usual Jordan Mids, this will likely retail at US$120.
