[Update 8 Jul 2022] Dior Men’s footwear lead, Thibo Denis, has graced us with more kicks available in the upcoming Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack x Dior collection. Featured on his Instagram, these images reveal a classic high-top sneaker with the modified Dior logo on the lateral side. The upper is a jet black canvas that is finished off with white laces and sole, bringing to mind Converses (which might not be that surprising given the rapper’s contribution to the CDG x Converse “Heart Shoes” hype). Standard Dior branding appears on the midsole.

Complementing the simple sneaker is a more embellished suede slip-on. Stamped on the tongue is a co-branding logo that reads “Dior Jack”, “A Beautiful New World” and “CJD”, an acronym for Cactus Jack Dior. The years 1947 – 2022 is also printed, likely a nod to Dior’s first fashion show that debuted in 1947. Patches of Cactus Jack x Dior designs are also present, along with modified Dior logos. [Update 1 Jul 2022] It’s confirmed: Travis Scott x Dior is making its debut on 13 July! Beyond the apparel that had its moment of glory on Dior’s runway, what is setting the community abuzz is the B713 shoe that was recently leaked. In newer images by @nicekicks, this skate silhouette is revealed to come in at least five colorways with a mix of textiles. Most interestingly, one iteration sees chocolate brown suede on the mudguard while snake skin-like leather takes over the eyelets. From the available images, it is clear that this anticipated collaboration sees Dior’s usual sophistication sharpened with a Cactus Jack edge. This is embodied in the modified Dior logo on the heel. [Update 27 Jun 2022] After Travis Scott was spotted donning Cactus Jack x Dior apparel, Instagram account @fakesickness shared a close-up look on the upcoming Travis Scott x Dior sneaker. With a silhouette that unmistakably makes it a skater shoe, the upper consists of a dark chocolate brown and black. Laces contrasts the dark palette in a clean white with a graffiti-style CD lace tag. The tongue, too, features this CD logo. See it for yourself by scrolling down!

With Travis Scott having hits with his recent Nike collaborations, it seems like Dior is looking to rekindle their Cactus Jack x Dior collection. Previously revealed on the Dior Spring/Summer 2022 collection, the coming together of Travis Scott and Kim Jones’ Dior was an iconic moment as it marked the first time a musician has worked with a fashion house on its entire collection. However, the collaborative pieces were put on hold due to the rapper’s Astroworld tragedy.

Though the pause seemed indefinite, Travis Scott was recently spotted in pieces from the Cactus Jack x Dior line while in Calabasas. This included a black tee with the rapper’s hand-drawn Dior logo along with a black bucket hat. Arguably, Scott could merely be wearing sample outfits, but it is not an impossibility that Dior is looking towards a relaunch of the collaboration.

This is especially so given Travis Scott’s return to the limelight with well-received Nike releases and his bookings in festivals. Though some are still critical of the artist’s return, only time will tell if this collection will ever be made available to the general public.
