Contrary to the popular adage, dogs are not just man’s best friends — they are women’s best friends too! Nike spotlights women’s love for their furry companions in this Asia-exclusive Air Max 1 “Woman’s Best Friend”.
A sense of playfulness blankets all the details in this shoe. Hairy textures cover the tongue and overlays on the heel and midfoot. These tufts of hair also pop out onto the laces, a peekaboo effect that adds an endearing touch.
The ankle eyelet takes on the form of a bone-shaped dog treat — a familiar image for any dog owner! Mudguards and forefoot are covered in reddish hues speckled with polka dots and retro Nike logos. This design is reminiscent of doggy outfits or handkerchiefs tied around their necks.
Beyond items associated with dogs, the insole also expands its canine-relations to the environment. Covered in a grass print, it gestures towards the dog park where you’ll find happy pups frolicking in the sun. The Air Max 1 Woman’s Best Friend comes complete with a metallic Nike Air hang tag and red handkerchief in matching prints for your furry friend.
This pair of Air Max 1 Woman’s Best Friend will be released on Nike SNKRS China on 18th June. It will retail for￥1,099 (approx $165 USD). An international release has yet to be announced, but we’ll keep you posted if there’s any news on it.
