[Release 3 Jun] Nike Air Max BW “Reverse Persian Violet” Flips a Classic Colourway
The Nike Air Max BW “Persian Violet” is receiving the “reverse” treatment! “Reversing” or “flipping” is common practice by brands like Nike, which tends to do this to bring back classic colourways. To achieve the best “reversed” product, Nike prefers to use silhouettes which feature intersecting colours with clear boundaries, such as Dunks, Air Force 1s, Air Max 90s, and now the Air Max BW.
The Air Max BW launched in 1991 as the “Air Classic BW”. It distinguished itself through its larger Air Max unit, hence the name BW (“Big Window”). The original “Persian Violet” colourway had a primarily black upper split by white stripes, violet swoosh, ankle, tongue and inner. As part of the “reversing” treatment, these colours were rearranged onto the “Reverse Persian Violet”, consisting of a primarily white upper split by black stripes and white inner. Meanwhile, the bright violet swoosh, ankle and tongue were retained. Nike also decided to keep the same sole unit as the original colourway, with a white and violet box pattern on the outsole and black tread underfoot. Overall, the “reversing” treatment completely renewed the classic colourway while keeping the key iconic elements of the original shoe.
