The cross-over of sports, fashion and manga finds its way into 2022 with a three-way collaboration. Japan-headquartered BAIT is famous for infusing anime and manga into their projects, with Attack on Titan, Ultraman and Cowboy Bebop among its long list of popular titles. This time around, BAIT introduces the legendary Astro Boy to the iconic Reebok Instapump Fury and Club C Stomper silhouettes — a collaborative project that is sure to attract fans of the retro anime and sneakerheads alike.

The main pull of this release is the glow-in-the-dark printing on the uppers, elevating the already-coveted Instapump Fury and Club C Stomper to newer, brighter heights. The graphics on both versions are line art reminiscent of Astro Boy’s blueprints found in the manga.

1. BAIT x Astro Boy x Reebok Instapump Fury

“When the Instapump Fury launched, it was a technological tour de force with aerospace and medical device tech integrated into footwear,” notes Fury designer Steven Smith.

The Reebok Instapump Fury has been hailed as one of the most advanced running shoes due to its innovative technology. This quality makes the iconic shoe a fitting base for the Astro Boy character, an advanced robotic being with a human consciousness. The patent leather is adorned with a glossy layer, on which rests prints of cogs, wheels, tubes and other miscellaneous lab equipments. Aside from the glow-in-the-dark component, the sole also sports a bright red — a distinctive nod towards Astro Boy’s knee-length “shoes”.

This edition of the Reebok Instapump Fury will retail at USD$200.

2. BAIT x Astro Boy x Reebok Club C Stomper

The Club C Stomper is, in its original form, already a reimagination of the classic tennis shoe. This aligns with Astro Boy’s origins as his story reinterprets the typical adolescent experience through a conscious robot. In this rendition of Club C Stomper, the inner workings of Astro Boy is flaunted against a chalk-white base. A schematic cross-section of Astro Boy is intricately printed in blue onto the shoe, which becomes even more prominent when lights are out.  Coupled with the white, this Club C Stomper is more radiant than the Instapump Fury — a definite head-turner in any night out.

This edition of the Reebok Club C Stomper will retail at USD$160.
