[Update 25 Aug 2022] It’s been a long wait since the original teaser that was Paris Fashion Week 2022, we’ve finally got official photos for the Black/Grey colourway of the CDG x Nike Air Max 97! A closer look at the sneakers in all their distressed and detailed glory shows the specially treated, textured leather that almost takes on a similar texture to suede. Photos also reveal hidden elements, like triplet Nike Swooshes accompanied by CDG branding at the insole. No official images of the Blue/White colourway have been released as of yet.

Unfortunately, these official photos were not immediately followed by release information about these long-awaited Air Maxes. However, you can expect a limited release during Fall/Winter 2022 season via retailers such as Dover Street Market, likely followed by a wider release via Nike SNKRS and other select retailers. We’ll update you as more information surfaces, so keep your eyes glued!

LINECOMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS has taken fashion and sneaker communities by storm with a glimpse of their newest collaboration with Nike Air Max 97 during Paris Fashion Week!

COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS, led by Rei Kawakubo, later presented its Fall-Winter 2022-23 collection at its headquarters in Tokyo. The theme of this season’s collection was “Nomad,” meaning nomad or wanderer, as described in one of the collection notes: “I yearn for ‘nomads’ who don’t belong, don’t crowd, and truly live freely on their own”. The footwear worn on the runway included two colourways of Nike’s Air Max 97, a wavy, streamlined silhouette inspired by the 1997 Japanese bullet train and well-known as the first pair to feature full-length visible Air Max cushioning.

The high-tech silhouette was interpreted in CDG style and constructed with grey and black distressed leather on one colourway, while light blue and white featured on the other. The distressed leather and slightly faded colours gave the sneakers a wandering, worn-in look. The rope laces are also roughly knitted to enhance the texture, perfectly reflecting the Nomadic worldview. The combination of faded colours and deep materials creates a finish that captures the beauty of finding freedom in chaotic times.
